Never cruised-what's there to do?

I guess this will sound silly to some of you, but if you don't gamble and don't swim, what is there to do while onboard a ship? We have done quite a bit of traveling and are getting to the point where we might like something a little less hectic than a two week go-go-go trip like we've done in the past. But not being gamblers or swimmers, we worry about being bored. What do you DO?

Good question...there are lots of things to do or NOT do..you can sit by the pool or take a dip, use the jazuzzi and relax. How about finding a nice quiet spot to read as the sea races by. Then there are art auctions, the proverbial Bingo games, talent shows by passengers, wine tastings, spa treatments, lectures, tours of the kitchen if available and on some ships tours of the bridge. There are often games by the pool, dancing lessons, plays, bridge games in the card room or sitting in the lounges listening to fabulous music. Then the most important thing on a cruise is not only the cruising, but visiting countries and ports you have never been before and exploring or taking tours... We are taking our first two week cruise in less than 60 days through the Panama Canal and I expect to be doing lots of relaxing and participating...No gambling (I'd rather shop) and we aren't big swimmers..just in a pool... For more info please write me.. Oh yes, we just got back from a trip to the Dominican Republic and can relate.

Most important on the ship is the first class entertainment and the wonderful food and service...not to mention being catered to and waited on....

And then there's the night life. Seeing a show every night and going out to various lounges (depending on the ship) for a quiet drink or dancing or to watch some performers.

We spent only 5 dollars in the casino, and I only swam in the pool once, but we had a great time.

But cruising's not for everyone, so if you're not sure that many of these activities sound like fun, try just a 3-day cruise if any.

I have to agree with all that was mentioned. We loved to just stroll the deck, morning noon or night. Trying to guess what ship or what island we were passing, or just looking at the stars. While on deck during the day we enjoyed laying in the sun (or shade) and just watching the people and listening to the music. I did spend some time in the Casino, I watched a lot but only played the slot machines, won 800 quarters the night before St. Thomas so that went to jewelry. Anyway, we found lots to do and it was so relaxing we did not have to recover from vacation when we got home like we usually do.
