Need Transfer between Rome and Civitavecchia Port
 

I am interested in contacting a reputable, reasonably priced company that could transfer from Rome to the Civitaveccia Port to meet our cruise. Can someone offer any ideas?

I would agree that rome cabs does a great job but if you are spending some time in Rome and would like a less expensive option the train from Rome to Civitaveccia is fast easy and inexpensive!

Buy a transfer from Princess, then look and see what hotels Princess was using for overnite guests. Then just order a taxie go to the hotel they will be using. When we did this, and we did this trip 3 times. It was alot cheaper than taking a taxie down to the docks. We would meet at a place close to the airport. Good luck

To expand on the above, the train is an excellent option for some. I've taken it and always will. Easy to get to- IF you pack lighter, have quality rolling bags and no mobility limitations. The BIRG ticket is 9 Euros, about $13. This includes round trip and look local Rome transportation, bus, METRO.

An addition, cheaper is just a one way regional train ticket and not the BIRG. I "forgot" they were one way. The BIRG is for round trip and includes the local Rome transportation, which is not needed if looking for a transfer, from Rome, to a ship.

I recommend www.mudicartransfer.it as was punctual and good pricing company. I used them not only for Civitavecchia transfers but for Fiumicino transfers too :) Greetings Anka

23 June, 2011: www.mudicartransfer.it - charged 105 euros Civitavecchia to Rome, piaza barberini. Driver was early by an hour and so were we so it worked out perfect. He was a bit of a tool though as we had 4 suitcases and 2 carryons; I had to arrange them to fit in car and still had one bag on lap.

Nice mercedes, in good repair. Driver knew where he was going. Confirmed night before by text. I only booked the morning before.
I would do it again.

I just got back, romecbs is excellent but you can catch the train from Rome to the port for 4 euro, I list all the details and talk about romecabs in my blog, easy to do.

We've used mudicartransfer.it three times. They're always waiting for us at the dock, punctual, and the price is reasonable. I would recommend them highly.

We did the train which was painless in Rome but a bit of a haul in Civitavecchia. As BudgetQueen notes, you will do some walking. I am generally a fan of public transport but this walk stands out as one of the less enjoyable ones. (We had large roller bags and a 2 year old.) It was far, somewhat hard to find, and not always on the sidewalk. It looks like there are lots of taxi/sedan options, so unless you are a seasoned backpacker, you may want to try one of those!
