Need tips for finding best airfare for Med cruise

Hi everyone,

I'm planning a Mediterranean cruise for next May. The itinerary starts in Barcelona, and ends in Venice. I'll be flying out of Orlando, Florida.

Does anyone have tips/suggestions for finding good airfare deals?

Thanks for any ideas!

I always start with kayak.com. Since you are doing an open-jaw you need to use the Multi-city search to put the two legs in separately. Then see what turns up. If one airline is involved, I sometimes go to that airline's site to double-check.

Above is good advice. Here is mine. There are basically no good cheap deals to Orlando or for that matter Florida. You would be better off flying into New York, Boston or DC and take a local back to Orlando. No matter how you cut it you are going to have at least one and possibly two stops on way. Friends just went through this leaving from Ft.L. and found it far cheaper to fly into NY. Most Venice flights go into either Munich or Frankfurt. You could check flights from Milan to NY as well. Its a short train ride from Venice.

I don't have a crystal ball to predict when prices will be lowest but I use www.kayak.com as well as a variety of fare alert systems like the one on expedia to keep track of current prices.

In the past I've found that the best US to Europe fares for spring and summer begin showing up after the new year begins. I usually book in Feb. for my June travels. Remember to get to Barcelona the day before the cruise starts, not on THE day of departure to be safe.

Thanks for the suggestions. I've already been tracking things on Kayak, but I'll look into flying through NYC as an option. I also definitely plan to fly into Barcelona a day early!

Thanks, guys. :-)

Another vote for Kayak--it really seems to be the best-of-breed system out there. Good luck!
