Need suggestions for tours on Baltic Cruise
Taking Azamara 9 night cruise through Baltic end of JUne/early JUly 2012. Not sure which cities we MUST take an organized tour. St. Petersburg , Helsinki, Tallin, Visby, Copenhagen and Stockholm. Need some suggestions.

St. Petersburg is really worth seeing - don't miss the opportunity! I've had a lot of people saying SPb was a gem or their trip! And you don't have to take the cruise line organized shore tours, there are a lot of small great tour companies in SPb that offer private tours rather cheap and they will also take care of all the visa paperwork (usually free of charge)!

Thanks Stanislava , your a gem for posting here.
You are a Tour Guide in St.Petersburg.
You perhaps do not want to say that for fear of advertising so I will.
I am sure you can offer a lot of valuable information on your lovely city.

We also found Tallin, Copenhagen, Helsinki, and Stockholm easy to tour on our own.
In St. P, we used Red October and were extremely satisfied. There were four of us travelling together; it was cheaper to have our own van, driver, and guide for two days (with a custom designed itinerary) than to use the ship's tours.

You can also do Visby on your own. Just go to the visitor information building right across from where you tender to get info & a map. We did the hop on-off bus in Helsinki but wished we'd just walked around on our own. I think it's Percy that has detailed directions on what to see in Copenhagen & Helsinki on some old postings. If you plan on going to the Hermitage in St. Petersburg try to go in the morning. When we were there it was hot & there's no air conditioning.
