Need River Cruise Travel Agent

I need help on 2 items. One a web or real person agent that has good prices for a Globus/Avalon Waterways river cruise in May of 2007 and then I'd like to know if anyone has flown from Washington DC to Amsterdam without using KLM. Would like to know of any other airlines that could get me there. Thanks to all.

I would recomend A1Supercruises.com
they have great rates and you get a real person . I think they also have wholesale air fares. Good Luck

Look for a travel professional with several years of experience in the travel industry, especially with river cruises, small ship cruising and Europe. You can check with the Niche Cruise Marketing Alliance for a referral to a "Niche Cruise Specialist." Not all cruise agents have experience with the river cruises, barges, small-ship cruising and a working knowledge of Europe beyond the big cities and ports. Many of the cruise agents on the Internet specialize in the larger cruise ships, but the river cruises are different in several ways and it really enhances your experience.

Best Regards,
Julia

We always book directly with the cruise line and choose the room we want ,etc.

It definitely pays to use an agent - I booked an Amadeus cruise recently and saved $500 off of booking directly with the line.

Sorry I don't know anyone who does Avalon.

I am intereted in Amedeus for a river cruise and noticed that Theresa went on one and saved $500 by using an agent. If theresa reads this could you please email me.

Or if anyone else has any information I would appreciated it.

Thanks,

Definitely book with agent, not with cruise line. My agent Alex always offers discounted prices. You can e-mail him [email protected]. Tell him spur sent you.

When I booked bus tours with affordabletours.com I've noticed a river cruise section there. These people are legit, I booked already 3 bus tours with them with 10% discount. Easy to contact by e-mail and phone.

I second the post about Alex from cruisevalue. I used him for our last cruise and saved almost $400.

I use Worldclassrivercruises.com. They always get me a better price than the river cruise lines themselves.

Why not put it out for bid through http://CruiseCompete.com ? Just pick the cruise you want, and let agents come to you with their best offers. You can read reviews of the agencies, plus you stay anonymous until they contact you.

(Have had good luck with UET out of California, but they specialize AMA rather than Avalon).

Good luck!

Wait a minute--this thread is from 2006?? What's going on here??

I cannot say enough good things about our TA http://www.brownandkeenetravel.com/. We mainly use them for Regent cruises, but we went on an escorted cruise on AMA last September from Prague to Budapest. They have branched out with river cruises in the last several years after their B&K's President personally checked out a number of the best companies. They have an extremely loyal following. I usually call Linda Litteken at B&K for all our cruise needs.
