Need ideas for Charlotte Amalie, St. thomas due to cruise change.

I am going a cruise soon and just found out that my first stop to Tortola, BVI, has changed to Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas in the USVI. Now I have to find an excursion at the last minute!! Any ideas on what to do?? I did see a excursion called SKYRIDE that looks pretty interesting. Any ideas would be appreciated!!!

I've been to St Thomas and our favorite place, if you like beaches, is Magens Bay. Beautiful, clear and calm water. Snacks and bathrooms available. We have done in island tour that included Paradise Point, other stops and the beach with Godfrey's.

We did a self-guided historical walking tour that I complied from some guidebooks.
If you go to the message boards at www.cruisecritic.com, Roll Call, your cruiseline, your ship, your sailing date, you can find fellow passengers with whom to share an excursion or from whom to learn about some other ideas.
There's also a Ports of Call board.

Definitely St. John, if you've not been there. One of the most spectacular places I've been to. The photos I've taken there I use for my screen savers, calendars, etc.

It's a short ferry ride to the island and then we took a bus tour, which included a number of stops at scenic overlooks. These are the beaches you see in the movies--not a building in sight and only a sprinkling of folks on the beach. Amazing blue waters in crescent coves and beyond them, mountains and more blue waters. It's a don't miss! - http://musingaboutcruising.blogspot.com

Here is an awesome tour for you. I can highly recommend Roy Sheridan (/http://www.paradisetoursvi.com)

Our 1st trip to St. Thomas we were w/ some friends and got off the ship and walked along the port and there was Roy! We had a great day w/ him, he knows his island well. Our 2nd visit to St. Thomas we got off the ship and walking along the port area and there was Roy (like he was waiting for us). This time Roy had his own vehicle and business. He's a great guy and you will be happy to tour w/ Roy. He now has his own website and contact info.

The following are tour companies that others have recommended but I do not know any of them personally to recommend them.

Here's a tour that gets good recommendations here on TA. Not sure if you can book just yourselves but worth an email. You might be able to join a group that is organized.

Good luck, think you should find something to do in St. Thomas. Have a wonderful day. It's a beautiful island.

St Thomas has 2 cruise ports. One is at Havensight, which is next to a big shopping center, but the other is further away at Criwn Point. While I'm not fond of Crown Point, it has the advantage of being next to the Water Island ferry. Water Island has the most idyllic beach, which is powdery soft and usually has a food stand, as well as showers and changing rooms. If you want a beach, that's what I'd recommend.
