Need help finding small ship cruise out of New York for winter 2010

My recently widowed 84-year-old father would like to join a small ship cruise leaving out of New York (he does not want to fly) around Christmas time. Any tips?

Find and use a search engine that lets you select by departure port. I believe NCL regularly sails out of NY and RCCL sails out of NJ.

NCL Jewel and Gem sail out of New York to the Bahamas in December and they are all 7 day cruises. As a matter of fact the Ncl Gem actually sails on Christmas day. If you check out vacationstogo.com and choose the custom search you can just plug in the month and the departure date. I think that cruise is your only option out of New York at that time of year.

Queen Mary (Cunard) has a 15 day Caribbean 12/19 ...not exactly a small ship but sounds pretty nice! How small do you mean?

I don't beieve anyone can call NCL Jewel or Gem "small", each capable of holding 2000+ passengers. For a small ship cruise, you ahev to look at the specialty and smaller crusie lines.

None of those, Queen Mary, NCL, nor RCCL are small ships, infact they are large, large ships. For that experience he will not be able to depart from the NYC area.
