I have a week of vacation at the end of June (I realize I got a late start) and am considering a cruise in Europe. Maximum duration can be about 8 days. A travel agent recommended AMA Waterways Nurembourg to Budapest or Windstar Wind Surf from Nice to Barcelona. A friend recommended Viking from Amsterdam to Basel. Never done a river cruise before. Worried that the boats will seem small. Main fear is that we'd be on a small boat without many people in our age group. Any feedback on any of the companies I've mentioned or river cruising in general? Any other trips you'd recommend. We love active trips with active people. Have taken several Backroads trips and like them very much but don't want to spend too much of the trip biking this time. Figured cruising might be a good way to see different places without having to change hotels or make travel plans for each city. Know this is all very vague but appreciate any help.

Hey, we have done the Windsurf and Windstar multiple times and always had a wonderful time. It is smaller, rooms are nice, service excellent and is very laid back. We did the Atlantic Crossing in Nov last year and there were people of all ages, including a few very young honeymooners...I don't think you would be disapointed. Food is excellent, and it is a thrill to be sailing with the sails up...why not?

We're headed on our 3rd cruise w/ NCL. Terrific, friendly and quite lively. Love the informality of NCL and good food choices and terrific entertainment at a good price. Was considering a luxury line like Seaborn, but really enjoy the activity level on NCL.

We were on Danube River Cruise on Uniworld last fall and most of the travelers were in their 50's and 60's but there were several young couples on the ship as well as our nieces and nephews and their spouses who are all in their 30's. We all enjoyed it very much and are taking another cruise (Rhine) this fall.
