NCL Sky cabin question...
Please clarify...a BA cabin w/balcony is shown as 208 sq. feet. In reading reviews, some have made it sound, or indicated, that the 208 INCLUDES the balcony sq. footage of something like 55 sq. ft.. Is this the case? That would make what remains VERY small!!

Please say it isn't so...I'd love to hear from someone who has actually sailed in a sky balcony cabin. If not, hopefully someone will read this who knows the scoop.

Thanks!

When NCL bought the Sky from Costa Cruise there weren't any balconies and NCL realized they must have balconies and as a result cut into the cabin to make balconies..We did sail the Sky on it's first Panama Canal trip. Since I don't consider myself a maven where it comes to size I'll let others tell you,but we spent two weeks on the ship.

Thanks ParrotMom, Hmmm, sounds like the 208 might be an outside room (149 I think) with a balcony. What is confusing is that I have Never seen a CABIN size that actually took-in the balcony sq. feet..or I just didn't know it did.
(PS) ParrotMom..what happened to Peter and Paul? Have I just not opened the right messages or have they disappeared..or perhaps 'changed their ways'?

Have you tried this site:

http://www.cruisestateroom.com/847932/indexships-frame.htm

They give descriptions of all the ships and cabins etc.

Peter maybe around...I don't think Paul is. I've discovered another new cruise site and found I think Cruiseaholic... One of the major complaints if I remember were the lamps over the bed weren't comfortable for reading in bed. We used the little love seat for clothes and I had brought so much luggage we were able to put it under the bed. After taking our first RCI cruise I appreciate NCL much more, inspite of what Paul says. We have just booked the NCL Sea from NYC to Bermuda in September and I've been warned that the cabins are claustrophic..but it's going to where I want to go and no balconies at all.

Yes, checked that one. It indicates the cabin is 200+, then plus the balcony. But drawing looks small and I thought I read a review where the writer said the balcony 'cabin' was just like the outside cabin in size. Cie la vie..(if spellchecker is out there, I know I blew that!) time shall tell.

Also, we were on one other NCL cruise..the Sea in 2000 when it was still sailing out of Houston. We had a good time and had no complaints. That makes 3 lines we've been on Carnival, RCCL, and NCL. I know, all mass-market lines as they are described...Celebrity and Princess may be next. The top notch lines are just out of our league! We've enjoyed every cruise, and had just a few minor complaints in one case. My husband says that if compared, there is always something that you really like over another, and that is with NCL in the mix, even though that line seems the draw the most complaints.
Oh, also if you haven't already...you may want to post the same question on cruisecritics.com There are so many readers familiar with NCL there. Good Luck!

Think it was on Cruise Critics I met the group on the RCI BOS...and I never met a group so "uppity" in attitude in my life.. I have vowed never to "hang" around.. We were on our first cruise 15 years plus on the SEA...and will be doing it again.. IMHO again I reiterate...NCL has it all over RCI...food, entertainment and service...I don't care what RCI adicts say..mass marketed

1. "Cie la vie" is really "C'est la vie"... eh bien! [Oh well]

2. "and I never met a group so "uppity" in attitude in my life.. " What means that?
Maybe Lew it is an old fashioned phrase...but these people turned up their nose any mention of NCL. the pre-cruise supper was spent each one bragging how many cruises they had been on and where they were going next. Their idea of a cruise was RCI or Celebrity. I make no bones about it...my expections were high considering all the raves about RCI and except for the beauty of the ship I found service (indifferent), food mediocre and I wont even talk about the entertainment. As a friend who sailed on it recently said..."We have better entertainment at our condo"...As I was disembarking and was that a disaster compared to NCL I mentioned to the person in charge of selling future cruises, Franklin, my disappointment.. his comment was "what do you expect on a budget cruise"... Tell that to the people who had just sailed the Baltic and then were going trans-atlantic...

Just a word about RCCL. Our first RCCL cruise was on the Rhapsody. It was our favorite up till then. (We had previously been on the Sensation, the Celebration and NCL's Sea). The food was excellent, our waiter and cabin steward the best and the entertainment top-notch. We thought we'd found the line we'd sail on from now on. Well, a week on the Grandeur 7 months later made "un"believers out of us. To my previous praise I can only say "NOT"! If that was my first RCCL cruise it might be my last. Another old saying applies....go figure!
