We had a ball tubing! It was our 5th time in Belize but 1st time tubing. I learned about Reggie on an old message board. (I print good info on ports or tours and have them in a file.)His web site is at regtour.com, his personal email is [email protected], phone is 011-501-422-0257 or 011-501-610-1541.
When you get off the tender you turn right and walk down to the light house. Reggie has vans to take you 37 miles north of the city and then 6 miles on what they call a dirt road that I call a rock road. You get a miners light for your head or neck, a life jacket we all took but didn't wear and your tube. Then we walked through the rain forest to the river. You have a choice of jumping about 15-20' into the river or walking into it.Then we were off. We spent a good 45 minutes in two HUGE caves. We spent more time in the caves than the river itself. It was fascinating. Sometimes we all turned off our lights and it was DARK, other times there was light from the 'roof' of the cave that was open. We sort of made a chain connecting our legs to the tube in front of us. There is NOTHING dangerous about this at all!
Now realy good things about our cave tubing! There were 9 of us (including girl friends of our driver and guide - who was Reggie's son). The ship's tour had 30 or 40 people. WE paid $49 cash when we got back to Belize City, our ship's tour was $92, I was told Princess is $98. We were ALL at the SAME place at the same time, tubed the SAME caves. Reggie has never had a passenger miss a tender and he has a boat in case anyone ever does that will take you out to the ship. They were VERY consious of the time. For more about Reggie, I emailed him Wednesday evening with a few questions and said I had just signed up via his site and for some reason gave him our phone number. I told him I could not get email after Thursday evening. So, what a surprise when our phone rang about 9PM Wednesday night. It was Reggie! He wanted to know if I had gotten his 2 emails (No, I had been off my computer after emailing him) and he answered my questions and assured us he wouldn't leave til we got to his van! This was an unecessary personal touch! Can't say enough about Reggie or his tour. Definetly doing it again next time in Belize!
