Naples/Amalfi coast

Hi,
We're going on our first cruise and want it to be amazing. One of our stops is Naples and we hear the Amalfi coast is not be missed. Is it worth a 2hour bus ride or are we better off to take a boat to Capri and spend the day there. We only have one day. Thoughts??

The Amalfi coast is beautiful. We really enjoyed our time there; however, I have a 3rd suggestion: Get some people to join you and use a private driver that allows you to see much more than any bus tour ever does. We used www.drive-amalfi.com and enjoyed a day seeing Ravello, Positano and other sites.

Thanks for the response patandhank! I will look into that site. Can anyone recommend other private drivers for the amalfi coast?

A couple of years ago we used this company for shore excursions in Florence & Rome. Here is their web site for Naples excursions:

We were very satisfied. The more people you have, the cheaper it is /person.

PS
The situation has changed in recent years however, as the local guides quote their prices in Euros and today it is more than 1 1/2 times the cost in dollars. It just might be cheaper to use the ship's excursions, but the tours will be less flexible. You have to use your judgment.

We used www.sorrentosilverstar.com and Alfonso was our driver in NAPLES for the Amalfi Coast and Pompeii. IT WAS GREAT...he was our favourite driver!
Alfonso made arrangements to have a private guide at Pompeii which was well worth the money, reservations at a nice hilltop restaurant on the Amalfi Coast - it was a truly amazing day!

We were very satisfied with Giovanni from www.tourofitaly.com.
