More questions-March 2001 cruise
I have this feeling I'm going to be here a lot! LOL It seems that people prefer Celebrity over Royal Carib. and Princess over Royal Carib. Compare Celebrity with Princess. Which would you prefer and why? What are the differences? Also, would like opinions regarding east, west or southern caribbean cruises. Which did you prefer? What was your favorite stop? Thank you!!!

It is interesting that RCCL owns Celebrity, but they just can't get the food right. Hands down for Celebrity. We enjoyed 17 days on RCCL in January, but the food was poor.

We have done several Carobbean cruises with RCCL. I think the best cruise incorperates cruising with port stops so you can enjoy both. We once did a cruis with a "port-a-day" and found it to be too much. Portb days tend to be rushed and more tiresome, depending on which excursions you take.
We love the "Western Caribbean" run (Ocho Rios, Caymen I, Cozumel). All are great ports of call (the Dunn's River Falls trip in Ocho Rios is a must) with good excursions and shopping. There Is a day at sea on either end and a day at their private island. It also leaves from Miami, a bit easier to get to.
We like the 2000 passenger size ships (I think the new MEGA ships are too big). There are more activities, lounges, dining options than on the smaller ships.

We've been on both Celebrity and Princess. I would have to give the nod to Celebrity but not by a lot. The new Princess ships, Dawn, Sea, Ocean, are really nice.

We have been on botht the Celebrity Century and the Sea Princess-both to the Western Caribbean. Both were great however, I think the Sea Princess would win out for the dining room food and service. We enjoyed the smaller dining rooms-more like restaurants and the waiters were much more friendly. We expected 5 star cuisine and although it was good on the century-I have had better. Portions and selection were better on the Century. We also preferred Princess Cays to Key West. But don't get me wrong-we will definitely return to Celebrity again (after we try a few more Princess cruises).

Just a wierd ( and probably dumb ) non-cruise question. What does LOL mean? I see this some but don't know what it means or how to pronounce. Thanks!

Thanks Merrie, John, Polecat & Lainey. Will be checking some things out and will probably be back with more questions!
