Why may I ask, with so many nice hotels, would you want to stay at the Howard Johnsons, which is in a god-awful location, in a Nice city like Miami? Are you planning to walk to the ship pier? a cab ride is a cabride, and if you want to stay near the ship pier, any of the hotels in the downtown area is only a 5 minute cabride to the pier. DON"T, under any circumstances stay at the HoJo.

I stayed at the Sheraton Bal Harbour when I was there last October. It was amazing! We were cruising on the Voyager of the Sea and flew down a few days early for some R&R. The cab cost to the pier wasn't too bad, around $15 I think.

Just Asking: Hope this helps... We stayed just across from the pier at the Best Western Marina Park Hotel. It was a 5 minute cab ride and has been recently renovated. No, it's not the Intercontinental, however if by chance you're traveling with kids or just arriving the day before (which actually ends up being dinner time), then this hotel is just fine. It's pleasing to the eye inside, the rooms are nice, the restaurant serves the purpose and you still are right across from the Bay Side Marketplace with other restaurants, and it's a decent price. We've stayed our fare share at the Intercontinental, but when you arrive at 4pm, $200-$300 /nt is a bit over the top when you cruise the next morning. We prefer to put the extra money towards a nicer cabin. You can look up this hotel on Best Western's website. Good Luck.

The B/W Marina Park Hotel is a modestly priced hotel. You can book a 2 double bed room for around $89.00 per night plus tax(s). Considering that you will be cruising the next day, this seems to be an ideal place. Close to mall and piers, and not expensive.
