Mexican Riviera Cruises
 

Anyone been on one in or around November? It's our 30th anniversary and am toying with a cruise vs maybe mayan riviera resort. I am also not a fan of seasickness. We took a repositioning cruise and from San Diego to San Francisco the waters were rough and I was sick for half of my trip. Is that run usually rough?

We're booked on a November 12th Mexican Riviera cruise from Los Angeles (actually San Pedro) on the Radisson Mariner. Not sure what is going on now but at the time we booked it was a 2 for the price of 1 AND a 2 category upgrade. (We ended up with a Category C - 449 sq. ft). All the cabins on the Mariner have balconys. There are lots of really great people booked on this...why not join us?? Now we just need to hope for decent weather and smooth seas.
BTW, just incase you decide on a land trip, my sister has a timeshare at the Mayan Palace resort which they can't use and they're going to have to rent out their week (not trying to make $, just cover the annual maintenance fee only).
30 years is a real milestone! Congratulations.

We took our family on a Holland America Christmas cruise roundtrip from San Diego. It was smooth sailing all the way except a little on the rough side out of San Diego. I am very car and seasick and felt fine the whole time. The trip was wonderful in every way, way beyond expectations.

I took a 7 day Mexican Riveria cruise on the Star Princess in November 2002. It was pretty smooth sailing too. I'm slightly prone to seasickness, but had no problems at all. Weather was hotter than I had expected (high 80's to 90's) but that's Mexico, I guess. Enjoy your cruise!

I've taken the Mexican Riviera cruise three times: twice from San Diego (Carnival & Holland America) and once from San Pedro (Royal Caribbean). On each cruise, all which were taken between October and December, the waters were relatively calm. I understand some of the newer ships are equipped with horizontal stabilizers, which takes away most of the rock & roll.

Thanks everyone for all your input. I feel a little better now. Will look into now finding a cruise deal.

The only caution would be the weather the first and last sea days. November in LA or San Diego can get down in the low sixties or even fifties. If that happens, your first and last days won't allow much sun worshipping by the pool.
We went the first week in December and it really didn't get "sun tan" warm until we were a half day out of Cabo.
