Mexican Riveria
 

Cruising in November from San Diego to the Mexican Riveria (Cabo San Lucas, Matzalan, Puerto Vallarta, and Acapulco). Any tips as to excursion we should or should stay away from?

My daughter and family chose a whale watching(it might have been swimming with the dolphins and the water was COLD) in Puerto Vallarta and felt the sea trip out to the area, was too long, rough and not worth seeing the whlaes who were too far away. While they were doing that, my husband and I went on a "city tour" which was excellent, beautiful area!

We did this last year. P.V. did the canopy tour-it was great. Book through canopy-tours vallarta.com, Mazatlan many people like Franks tour, or Randi's happy horses. We just went to El Cid and used their fun pool w/ waterslide, etc. Cabo, not much there. TAke a glass bottom boat over to the ARches. Lovers beach has NOTHING to do there, I felt like Gilligans Island, but some people like it. I would do an ATV tour, Jetski, or shop.

If your ship offers a walking tour of Mazatlan I'd highly recommend it. I had no idea just how pretty the city was until we took a guided tour exploring many of the city's vibrant and colorful streets. So bring a camera, you will see how the spanish design has inspired a lot of America's homes/attractions/etc.

Yes, I've heard great things about the walking tour of old town in Mazatlan, too. The description makes it sound like a few hours of non-stop walking, but there are lots of breaks, which allow for sitting and resting.

I've done a boat tour of the Land's End/El Arco in Los Cabos. We left early in the morning, but were able to see the sunrise over the arches and it was spectacular. There was a sea lion, named Pablo, who was lying in the morning sun. The white sand beach was gorgeous. We were served orange juice and coffee and there was a taped narration of the history and natural beauty by Jean-Michel Cousteau. We were back on the Diamond Princess by 8 a.m. and had breakfast. It was a wonderful way to start the day.

Be sure to visit the arts and crafts market at the end of the pier in Cabo San Lucas. It is huge, with the artisans themselves selling their work. Beautiful silver jewelry, Mexican wood carved animals, Mexican blankets and more - the people are lovely and friendly.
