Meeting Solo Travelers

Hi! I am 57, married, and traveling solo on a cruise to Alaska for the first time. I wanted to know if there are any cruise lines that help solo travelers meet one another. It would be great to get to know people as soon as I got on board. What are the best ways any of you have met other solo travelers? I haven't made my reservaton yet as I am just starting to do some research on cruises.
Thanks for any help!
Helen

If you go to the message boards at www.cruisecritic.com, there will be a Roll Call for your sailing. We have found that a good way to met fellow passengers.

Hi, well I have traveled alone on a transatlantic cruise so it was long time on the sea by that time, last year, I did it with costa fortuna from Italy to Florida and its not a place to meet new friends of my age 22 most of the people were older but still I made like 6 or 7 friends people to hang out with not all the time but most of it ! but as I say maybe for my age...most of the people there where older than 50 so check it out, also I think all depends on your personality and purpose of crusing ! good luck

As mentioned above, sign up for cruisecritic's Roll Call.

Also; Some lines have a Singles Lunch or Meet-up; check the
daily Schedule. When dining; always ask for largest
available table to meet folks. Check daily activities
schedule; Trivia game among others has many participants.
Ask to join a group after introducing yourself. When
taking excursions, chat w/others. In evening, check out Piano
bar & other venues.

Thank you all for replying! I just joined Fodor's this week so I am still finding my way on this site. I do enjoy time alone. I just want to meet other solo women to dine or have drinks with, go on excursions with and just to laugh and have a good time. I will go to Rollcall and post there too once I decide on a cruise.

www.cruisecritic.com

for best reviews on each ship check carefully pick style

that best suits you for best experience travel buds

of similar interest easy to find after that

Great Deals for me on Priceline.com last also AARP/Expedia

Princess was great for me HAL older more formal travellers

RCL younger single crowd NCL good "freestyle cruisers"

You will meet lots of similar folks if you pick the right

ship that suits your travel style(more or less formal).

For me as a more mature traveller Princess or HAL

One more rec for going on cruisecritic asap. You might even find other solo traveles who are also still trying to decide on a cruise. At any rate, on this web site, you can definitely find other people to join on excursions, and meet other singles. Lots of people plan their own excursions and are always looking for people to join them.

The group who starts the roll call for your cruise usually also plans some kind of meet and mingle the very first afternoon or evening of the cruise. If a roll call has not yet been started, you can start one yourself as soon as you have booked your cruise.
