Mediterranean Cruise
 

I would like to go on a 7 to 10 day Mediterranean Cruise next February. I have only been on two cruises, both leaving from the US. Can anyone give me advice on cruise lines, booking, packing, tours on shore, and pointers on cruising. My husband, who has not been on a cruise before and is known to have motion sickness, is concerned about being seasick. How are do the patches for seasickness work and are the Mediterranean seas as rough as the Atlantic? All info is greatly appreciated.

I think February would be a particularly bad time to take a Mediterranean cruise. While the waters are certainly not as rough as the Atlantic, winter is just not the best time to cruise. The weather would be questionable at best, and you wouldn't be able to make the best use of the outdoor areas of the ship. Just be sure to pick a ship with an enclosed pool (most Holland America ships have these). But there won't be many offerings, so you may not have a lot of choices. The season really doesn't begin in full until April.

Hi Doug, Thanks for your response. I like the idea of taking the cruise to be able to visit different places without having to drag luggage, drive, and move in and out of hotel rooms. It looks like there aren't many at sea days on most of the cruises offered which is good. Although the date is not ideal for traveling, it is the only time my husband and I can both be off together. At least it's not hurricane season.

If plan on Greece and Turkey most things don't start to reopen and do business until April. It can also be cold and very windy at that time.

I just did a search and for that time all I see are two cruises ofered. One on Costa, the other on NCL. Not much. The prices are low but that is due to the weather that time of yr. How about a cruise in a different locale, say the Panama canal or the Caribbean? I can't say anything about the patches except that when my wife got mal de mer once the ships MD prescribed phenergan, which worked well BTW, and said patches were no longer in use in Europe (she was English) due to severe side effects.
