May or June for Mediterranean Cruise?
OK... now that I've been reading other posts, I really don't know what to do. My husband and I want to take a mediterranean cruise between Venice, Greece, Amalfi coast, and Barcelona and can go any time although we want it to be warm enough to be comfortable in swimsuits and to lay by a pool/on a beach, but not too high intensity of tourism where you can't enjoy each port or see the places of interest. Is there a huge difference between May and mid-June (embarking on June 16)? Any recommendations/ suggestions/ tips/ insight???

We took a 12-day cruise from Barcelona to Athens that began May 20 and ended June 2. The weather was great except for one day in Santorini. Amazing how the weather can color your impression of a place. I have friends that told me later that their favorite port was Santorini when they cruised the Mediterranean. Perhaps because of the weather I could not fully appreciate the beauty of Santorini, and it was my least favorite port. There is never a guarantee of good weather, but I think as you move into summer your chances are better. If you have the choice, I would opt for early June.

We took a wonderful Med cruise that left Barcelona on May 11 - the weather was grrrreat! Not so hot that sightseeing was uncomfortable, not so cool that the beach/pool was uncomfortable. (And school is still in session, so there shouldn't be a problem with being over-run with children.........)

We did a mid-June, 12-night Med. cruise a year ago. I kept watching the weather reports before the trip and everyone was reporting beautiful weather until the week before we got there... when we arrived, and throughout the trip, it was HOT and humid.
Go in May!!

I would like a Mediterranean cruise, however I don't want high season it's just no fun for anyone, wall to wall tourists. And judging by the comments late May or early June look like the best ??? would this be right ???

I've taken a Med cruise in May thru June and one in August thru Sept. By far, the weather was better and the crowds were much less in the August thru Sept. We prefer tbe cooler weather, but it was cold in May! You never know.
