Lindblad Expeditions
I wonder if anyone has had experience with Lindblad. I was particularly interested in their European cruis, from Lisbon to Copenhagen, but any first-hand info. would help a lot. Thanks. |
I can't say enough about Lindblad. We have taken two of their expeditions, one to Galapagos and one to the Sea of Cortez. They bring a full staff of professionals to interpret and guide. The people who choose to participate in this kind of cruise are interested as well as interesting. While I have not been with Lindblad in Europe, I would recommend your giving them serious consideration.

I am also asking about experiences with Lindblad. We are interested in cruises with lectures and university guides rather than casinos or boutiques. Thanks

You might also look into Clipper Cruises which is a division of Intrav. I love their small ship cruises (100 to l20 passengers) which also offer lecturers. I just returned from a cruise to Portugal, Spain, Morocco, Tunisia, Libya, Sicily and Malta. It was more to visit archaeological sights and there were 4 lecturers on board. Sometimes you can find some pretty good discounts on their cruises.

Did Lindblad 9 years ago Costa Rica to the Panama Canal. We loved it. It wasn't luxury but it was a great experience - jungle walks, rain forests, bird watching, snorkeling. I think there were about 60 people on the ship (Polaris) We had the least expensive room and that wasn't cheap but it was my 50th b'day celebration. THe cabin was very small but we knew that going on board.
No entertainment, no TV except the one in the lounge that was used for lecture. which was fine with us - Great nature crew on board. There is a library and lounge/bar and dinning room. It was great going thru the Panama Canal on such a small ship. Some of the large cruise ships have only a few inches one each side to make it thru but we had lots so we could really see what was happening on both sides of the boat. As we were in one of the locks, a very large cruise ship was going the other way and I was so glad I was on such a small intimate ship. |
