Exactly. One river cruise line I was on made it mandatory for Aussies to pre-pay their tips as the staff was getting upset about never getting tips from the Aussies. "Because we don't do it at home" isn't an acceptable answer...

I think some cruise lines do that too for Aussies who book from Australia. I do know that at least it used to be that Princess would not allow Aussies to book from from a non-Australia travel agency. I heard this and tested it by calling Princess to book a cruise for us and two of our Aussie "friends and was told they would have to be redirected to an agency that services Aussies. I could not book for them. However I called Royal and one or two others and was told they had no such policy.
