LAX to Long Beach Port

We are going to take the Diamond Princess to Mexico. It said the port is Long Beach. Princess will charge $50 per person for round trip transfer. I would like to find a better price of transportation to the Long Beach port. Please give me some advise. We have two person for this trip.

Thanks,
Sylvia

Last year when I did this trip (on the Star Princess) I used Prime Time Shuttle from LAX to San Pedro pier. It was $15/person. They are right outside the baggage pick up, it was very easy and convenient.

I made reservations online at primetimeshuttle.com.

Have a great time! We LOVED this cruise!

I should have said $15/person ONE way. I looked on the website -- it is $23 LAX to Long Beach each way, so $50 r/t is in the ballpark...

I looked again MORE closely this time lol. It's $23.76 round trip. Think I'm having another senior moment. I'll stop giving advice now....

I live here and I never knew that any ships left out of Long Beach? Could you mean San Pedro (also called Los Angeles pier)??...or I'm learning something new today.

Thank you,
Sylvia

I too am surprised to hear of a port in Long Beach. Maybe Princess is the only cruise line to leave from there.

I've never been to Long Beach but I'm pretty sure that's where I'm cruising out of next April on the Carnival Pride.

Carnival lists cruises out of Long Beach. (Their web site actually says "LOS ANGELES (LONG BEACH), CA".

The Carnival terminal is apparently in the dome that used to house the Spruce Goose. The maps on the Long Beach Convention and Visitors Bureau show the Carnival Terminal on it. (http://www.visitlongbeach.com/maps/i...m?action=cover -- select the Downtown Long Beach map.) Since this map has an arrow with a notation "San Pedro 4 miles", I'm guessing these are two different locations.

Interesting, part of the ever changing world I guess. The last Carnival ship I cruised on left from San Pedro but that was a couple of years ago.

I called Princess. They told me the Diamond Princess will dock at San Petro, LA World Cruise Center, Berth 93.

I just do not believe that the staff at Princess gave me the wrong information that Diamond Princess will depart at San Petro. I went on to SanPetro.com and I find out that Diamond Princess will depart at the Long Beach, California, home of the Carnival Corporation's new Long Beach Cruise Terminal. Carnival Cruise Line Ships and some of the Princess Cruises Ships depart and arrive at this facility.

I can't vouch for Diamond Princess - though I'll be looking as I sail on her in November - but Long Beach HAS recently gotten a terminal.

"New Terminal at the Queen Mary to Open April 14

MIAMI (03/31/03) - Carnival Corporation's new Long Beach Cruise Terminal at the Queen Mary will welcome its first cruise ship when Carnival Cruise Lines' 70,000-ton Ecstasy sails from the $40 million facility April 14, 2003...."
