Language trend on Baltic cruises

Brief look shows quite a few lines doing the Baltic. Which of these would have primarily English speaking passengers? What about Costa?

Probably all ... Though the first language on Costa could be Italian.

We just returned on a Celebrity cruise of the region. Everyone we encountered spoke English. BTW, English is the official language of the maritime industry and all communications between ships and governmental coastal authorities, for example, is conducted in English.

The passengers were a mix from different regions. Certainly a lot of Americans but we met numerous people from other countries and many languages were spoken.

I just spoke to a contact at MSC Cruises (another Italy-based cruise line). On European cruises, MSC's and Costa's first languages are usually Italian, but English is widely spoken and all announcements are made at least in these two languages.

I have found, to my chagrin, that not all English speakers, even in direct contact positions (check in, front desk), are equal. On our recent HAL cruise, English speakers caused plenty of confusion, because they poorly comprehended the language.

Thanks much for the quick responses. Anyone have a recommendation as to the best way to hop from Copenhagen to Oslo?
