Killer cruise deals abound

I just wanted to let yall know that there are unprecedented deals right now. I just booked:

- 4 nights Sovereign of the Seas May 18 outside cabin; Cat H (same level as the dining room) Total charge including port and govt fees $257
- 7 nights Navigator of the Seas May 31 inside cabin (minimum deck 6); total charge $560.

I know that one ship is brand new and the other is a decade old, but the key thing to note is the price per day. Sovereign is $64.25 per day and the Navigator is $80 per day.

I have never paid more than $100 per day but usually it is hard. This year it is quite easy to snatch up killer deals.

great Jim, but the Sovereign was not worth it IMO. Considering tips et al, I would book a nice resort somewhere in N Florida....Ponte Vedra, St Augustine,Amelia Island... I don't know, I thought the Sovereign's food, staff, entertainment, etc was way below par. This is a cheap time to travel anywhere...the SOS is simply not worth the effort. Navigator, tho, is splendid!

Legondary journeys just sent me an email for another killer deal: 15 Day cruise on the newly renovated NORWEGIAN SEA. It is a special 2 week cruise departing New York on April 27, 2003. Rates start at just $499 and that INCLUDES port charges! She will sail round-trip from New York to Halifax, St. John's, Boston, Martha's Vineyard, Norfolk, Baltimore, Charleston and Philadelphia.

15 days for $499. That's just $33 per day. All you have to add are the gov't fees, but they won't bump it up too much.

Jim Smith: where did you book these? where does Sovereign of the Seas depart from? Is that Royal Carribbean?

Sovereign of the Seas departs from Port Canaveral, Florida. I bought the tickets for both of these cruises through Cruise dot com.

I am aware of another poster getting a good deal from cruise brothers dot com which was on the Explorer of the Seas (7 days out of Miami) for about $550.

I am not affiliated with any travel agency and I am posting this information because I believe in patronizing the travel agencies who can provide the cheapest rates.

snorkelman: That 15 day cruise is cheap for a reason, the ship isn't the best, and the weather north of New York will be cold at sea in April. Also keep in mind that the tips, drinks, casino, tours, pictures, etc. for 15 days has a way of adding up. Sometimes those off-season deals on long cruises turn out to cost a lot more than you thought.

On the positive side the ports you listed are great, but a month later would make it an altogether different experience.

I got a great deal on the Royal Princess - 12 days, leaving May 23, Athens to Southhampton for $1200 (SINGLE, outside cabin, no air)from Cruise value center (www.mycruisevalue.com). Can't beat those prices and the ports are not in any war-affected areas.

Lothlorien: That IS an excellent price. I really enjoyed the Royal on my cruise to Iceland and points north and few summers ago.

Happy cruising next month!
