Key Lime Pie in Key West ??
We're cruising to Key West and then to the Bahamas in two weeks and are wanting to eat the best Key Lime pie we can find ..... any suggestions ?

Two usual choices then we can get to the best...
1. Kermit's http://www.keylimeshop.com/ 2. Blond Giraffe http://www.blondgiraffe.com/ Either of these are easy to walk to from the docks. But the best is at Blue heaven http://blueheavenkw.homestead.com/Bl..._Key_West.html Walk down Whitehead, right on Petronia, 2.5 blocks to Thomas. Tell them you're there just for the KLP. Pjk |
Thanks so much ! We've heard of KErmit's and the Blond Giraffe, but not the other. You've been a great help .... appreciate it.

A Best-kept Key West Secret: the KLP at Pepe's. Oldest restaurant in Key West. On Caroline Street across the parking lot from Waterfront Market.

You can also get key lime juice that comes with a recipe to make your own Key Lime Pie!

Just a head's up.
IMO one of the best things to bring home from Key West is either Key Lime mustard which you can get everywhere and one of the bottled sauces sold at Peppers of Key West on IIRC Caroline Street just up from Pepe's. Pjk |
Thanks to everyone for your great tips ! We can buy fresh key limes in our local grocery store (we live in deep South Texas), but eating key lime pie in Key West is just one of those "have to" do things.

When you drop by Kermits, remember to pick up a little bottle of Toad Sweat -- a hot (chile hot) chocolate sauce to put on top of your ice cream.... YUM!!!!!!!!!!!
If the weather cooperates, try really hard to have lunch at Blue Heaven while you are there - one of the best, and coolest, restaurants you will ever find. |
