Just back from Century cruise

to eastern caribbean...any questions?

We're taking this cruise on June 1st with my kids and my parents. How was the cruise? Food good? Casino payout okay? Service good? We're doing the Eastern too. Any recommendations on things to do in port?

Kitty,

This was our first cruise with Celebrity, although we have been on RCCL and Carnival ships in the past. Overall, we enjoyed the cruise. The Century offered more cabin storage than the other ships we've been on and is nicely maintained. There were about 2000 people onboard but we rarely felt crowded. The food was exceptional, especially dinner. The service was quite good as well.

The casinos seemed to be about the same as other ships. A few big slot winners ($100+) but alot of loosers too. The blackjack payouts seems in line as well.

Since we've been to these ports before, we tended to migrate to the local beaches when not on the ship. However, since we docked in San Juan for a few hours, we only had tme for a few margaritas in Old SJ then had to head back to the ship. The next day we took the ferry to St. John and spend the day at Trunk Bay (beautiful). The following day at St. Marteen we went to Dawn Beach. Then, on Friday we spent the afternoon at the Atlantis resort while in Nassau.

One real bonus - US Airways processed our airline tickets and tagged our luggage Saturday morning onboard before we left the ship. That was great. We went straight to gate and onto the plane since we were checked in and had our baggage taken care of. No waiting in long lines at the airport.

Evidently, once the Feds took over airport security it became apparent that letting 20k+ people off the ships at the same time and sending them to the airport wasn't working. So they now have some airlines check in passagers before they leave the ship. Good idea.

I hope your weather will be as great as ours. Enjoy, you'll have a great time.

We were on the Century's March 9th East Caribbean cruise. We had a wonderful time. The food was great. I know one lady won $3000 on a slot machine. On blackjack, I won, I lost-overall I was up. Our cabin steward and waiters were all excellent. We also had a couple of bar servers that were also excellent. On St Thomas we went to Coki beach-excellent snorkeling! We were going to to go Marine World but we didn't make it there. We just strolled around in San Juan and in St Maarten. Best buys for liquour and cigarettes are in St Maarten. We went to the casino in Atlantis while in Nassau (he lost and I won). All in all- a great vacation! I hope you have a great cruise.

Thanks PC and Janice for your information. What time did you board the ship? Everyone I read on the message boards seem to get on around 11:00 to 12:00 even though Celebrity says boarding starts at 2:00. Were you able to get on this early? I'd like to get on early so we can maximize the fun plus get lunch on board. Thanks.

Due to airline connections, we didn't board until around 3:30pm - just in time for the lunch buffet. However, people we met during the week got on around 11am. I suggest you get there by 11am, settle in your cabin, and start to enjoy. The pools and bars were open, as well as the lunch.

We got to the terminal about 10:50 and they opened the inside doors about 11:10. They said the cabins would not be available until 12:30. So we sat by the pool and I went to ours at 12:15 and it was all ready. You could get food-I think a buffet. We didn't eat, so I don't remember exactly about the food.
