Jet lag on land or at sea?

My wife and i plan to cruise the Baltic this summer. We will be flying from Los Angeles. Would it be best to spend a few days on land (Copenhagen) or have our jet lag on the boat?
Thanks.

I'd want to be rested and alert for the cruise. Coming from the west coast myself I prefer to arrive with a few days to adjust my personal clock before requiring anything of myself. It's just inconvenient to be wanting to sleep in daylight and then wake up in the middle of the night. Although you may find some interesting ways to pass the time on the ship in at 3 in the morning.

Walk it off on land so you'll be good to go on the cruise. Try to get as many winks and snoozes in on the way over, then take a minimal nap on arrival, instead of going to really sleep stay in the fresh air and keep moving until dinner time, by the next morning you'll be 90% there. If you sleep during the day on arrival, you remain "turned around", drowsy during the day and hyper at night - not good...
