Is a "Private" balcony really private?
We are getting married next spring and planning on a cruise to Hawaii. We've each been on many cruises and wanted a special cabin for our honeymoon, a balcony, which we've never had before. Here's my question: When we are out on the balcony will be able to see or hear the people in the balcony's on each side of us? By the way, we will be on the new Carnival "Spirit". Thanks for any advise!

Balcony partitions are not floor-to-ceiling type, and if your neighbor happens to be leaning over the railing he can definitely see your balcony (just like you could see his!) So as long as you stay dressed and don't do anything you'd be embarradded to do in front of your parents, you're ok. Balconies are great for breakfast or even a drink before dinner...don't forget to put a couple bottles of wine in your checked baggage (NOT carry-ons..Carnival inspects those and have been known to confiscate booze that way)
Enjoy!

Hi Susan,

The partitions are high enough that no one can see over them.

Definitely one can lean over the rail and see into the next cabin's balcony.

My advice would be to find a balcony that is as wide as it is long therefore one would have to do some leaning to see you if you are near the door (impossible unless you hang outside the rail). Ask your travel agent.

Do not sail the Grand or Golden Princess. There is only one category that has roofs over the balconies.

Paul

I had a balcony looking out towards the back of the ship, they are a little larger than the side balconies. Yes, you can hear the people next to you, however, I didn't hear or see anyone near me during my entire cruise.

Pleaseeeeeeeee be very careful about putting wine in your checked luggage as previously suggested. The way they handle your luggage, I'm not sure much would survive. I sure wouldn't want all my clothes covered in wine (not worth the savings on the wine).

You can CARRY-ON as much WINE/CHAMPAGNE as you'd like to on Carnival.

You need to CHECK hard liquor and beer.

My queston is Nanette. How did yoiu get the keg on? "grinning."

The people in the cabin below you can hear everything you say/do on your balcony. Believe me - I was unfortunate enough to have a cabin located below someone's balcony - it kept me awake half the night. Some of the noises were amusing though - when I applauded when they finished their "show" the were much quieter for the rest of the cruise.

Paul-Darling!

I can't give away ALL of my secrets, now.... can I?

(We'll discuss the keg privately, OK?)

*grinning whilst her mind is racing- thinking about the possibilities*
