Indoor pool for Alaskan cruises needed?

Even in the summer months, isn't it too cool to swim outdoors unless the pool is under a solarium? Do most ships have retractable coverings for cool weather? Rob

Hi Robert,

All the newer large ships have one pool with an electric roof and others without. The hot tubs are heated no matter where they are on the ship.

Paul

On our sailing - it was too cold to swim in the regular pools. I had heard a few weeks before ours and a few weeks after, it was warm enough.

We went at the end of June/first of July. Our weather wasn't the greatest.

Most but not all the ships have the retractable pool/solarium pool.

Robert-- GO on Celebrity on their Milleium Class ships-- ALL of them have this awesome thallasotherapy spa pool open to the public at no extra charge- and it has a lunch buffet right next to it.....It is UNDER roof and also has a covered roofed area where you can sit out and watch the scenery....

There are ships with solarium pools, but if you are cruising and inside passage, most people are watching the scenery and not spending much timne in the pool.

I agree that the outside vistas should capture your attention, more than pool. However, most books say to enjoy ship ammenities when cruising the Inside Passage, day out from Vancouver or last day at sea to Vancouver. For my kids sake (9&6) I am wondering if they can use the spa pool or if ship we choose had retractable cover. If I call cruise company will they inform if
ship I am interested in (as of today, Celebrity Summit)has this?
