In or Out?
Hello! We're first time cruisers trying to book a cruise to the Med in October. Celebrity had a sale that just ended and this bumped our cost for an outside cabin up by about $500.
So, it's got me questioning "inside or outside"? Which do you prefer? Why??? |
This is a no brainer to me....especially in the Med with such gorgeous scenery and ports. I'd get an outside for sure and if at all possible, splurge and get one with a balcony. When we go on Med cruises we practically live on our balcony.
Personally, I hate inside cabins. You never know if it's day or night and in the daytime you have to leave the lights on all day. To me, they're very claustrophobic. |
Keep reading articles that in this economy everything is negotiable. I would not give up until I had spoken to Celebrity and/or a travel agent and asked them to honor the expired sale.

We've had inside cabins, oceanview cabins, and balcony cabins.
The balcony is our first choice, and we do use it--have breakfast out there, and wine before dinner, watching the port we just visited disappear. I wouldn't spend the extra money for an oceanview--that just didn't add much for us. We don't mind the inside. I love sleeping in a dark room, and we can always set the alarm to make sure we wake up. we like to leave the TV set to the station that shows where we're going. |
I hate, hate, hate inside rooms. We returned recently from a Mediterrian cruise. We had booked and inside room to save money. I lasted one day and then begged for anything that had a window and thank the good Lord, got one. I cannot stand not having natural light! To get up in the morning and not see the sky and light, even if there's no sunlight is awful. To come back to the room during the day for whatever and not have light, I could not stand it. I will never cruise again if I can't have a window or balcony. Just my opinion, I'm told there are those folks that don't mind inside rooms.

cd, we just got back from an Alaskan cruise. This time of year it just doesn't get dark, and light tends to seep in around the curtains. We had an outside unobstructed view cabin. While that was ok, we would opt for either: (1) a balcony, so we could actually go out and enjoy the scenery, or (2) an inside cabin, so we could sleep undisturbed, and then go to the deck or Crows Nest lounge so we could enjoy the view at will.
