With all the cruising you guys do,no one knows anything about cruising in Europe? On Fodor's Europe site, if you ask about ports on a cruise, they think you're a weirdo. They're all into land tours. It seems that you only cruise the Caribbean. Any other site for advise on ports in Europe. To take the ships tours or not?
I can't even get info on Oceania's Regatta. Don't know where to turn. Please Help'

Thanks Peter, I did try that site, just some reviews on the ship. Nothing about port stops or ship tours Vs on your own. taxi fares and such. I guess I'll just wing it!

I suggest you go back and have another good look around Cruise Critic. Go to the 'Boards' where all the forums are then to the 'Ports of Call' threads. Europe is one of the listed places with lots of info including independant tours vs. ship tours. Also go to the message boards list of reviews and check back through some of the older ones for cruises through the area that your interested in... and not just on the ship your going on. Many ppl list what they did while in port so you should get some great info from there also.

If your looking for a few other sites you can try these as well Cruisemates.com, Cruise-addicts.com or ship-happens.com.uk you can also try Lonely Planets Thorn Tree to see what info they have to offer.

I hope you get some useful info from at least one of these sites!

I agree with the recommendation to read the port of call boards at cruisecritic and cruisemates.

We went on a Scandinavian/Baltic cruise last summer, and I found lots of helpful information about hiring tour guides and touring cities on our own.

The reason there isn't much information about the Oceania ships is, I think, just a numbers thing. Oceania has only two ships that hold 684 passengers each. Compare that to Princess's 14 ships at 2000 passengers each, and you can see the difference.

This is a Cruise Critic Baltic Ports - should help you out. It has info about all the ports - regardless of which ship you are sailing. (friendly people too!)

There is a large Yahoo.com with lots of posts about Oceania. Email me and I'll send you the address. When I tried to copy it on here, I lost the "post a reply" for some reason.

There is a tiny little Oceania board on CruiseCritic with 2 to 3 postings a day.

On the Princess Cruise line website they have a listing of all the tours that they offer in each port which will give you an idea of where they go. If you are cruising to Europe you should know where you want to go and see just by researching then pick the ship that offers what you're looking for.

I just received an email from Cruise Critic and they have a section on Insider's Guide to Cruising Europe - so if you go to their website I think you will find good information.

There is a very active board for Oceania
where you can get all the info you need.

Myself- I have land toured Europe many times- cruising is not for me in that location. :) Perhaps post more specific questions about the areas? That way you may get more response?

All these websites mentioned mates, critic, addicts, etc appear to be just used by Americans (prices in USD, etc)
The only UK one (ship-happens) does not work.
Any idea for cruise forum/practical infos with majority of Europeans?

Look for posts starting after the end of May from last year.
There are a ton of posts from last years' Mediterranean travelers with plenty of detail on shore excursions..both with the cruise line and independently.
