I am booked to go to Egypt at the end of this month and I have read somewhere that the cruise lines are offering a different port instead of Cairo/Alexandria. I cannot remember where I read that but it would be worth checking as I am sure that the cruise liners have no intention of getting their guests into areas that are not safe. I think that we are going to get Cyprus and Israel.

NCL is going to Istanbul, MSC is going to Haifa, Costa is going to Malta. They are all different so check with the cruise line to be sure ... If the fundamentalist took power in Egypt, it will be either deemed not safe to travel (much like Iran, Iraq and Afganistan) or you are not "forbidded" to go.

Ivenot, I think it was on Cruise Critic that cruise ships make stops in Turkey instead of Egypt these days.

We have had notification that we are going to Izmir, Turkey and to Athens instead of Cairo/Alexandria. I am quite happy to be going back to Turkey as I love the place and will pick up things that I did not get the last time I was there.
