How far do you want to be from the elevators?

I am factoring in also what end of the ship to be so we are nearer to the childrens area, but would; say 5 cabins away be sufficient or further? Thanks for any help!

On our last cruise we were just about 4 cabins around the hall from the lifts and the one we have booked in Novemeber is about the same. Close enough to be handy but far enough away to avoid the noise. We prefer mid-ship area outside cabin.

I really enjoy being right next to the elevators. Easy on and quick to the cabin.

I would definitely want to be further away from the children's area (since I don't have any in the programs!)

Just my own opinions!!

I just returned from a recent Holland America New Year's cruise. When my travel agent told me the cabin number and I noticed on the deck plans that it was extremely close to the stairs + elevators, I panicked. She assured be there shouldn't be a noise problem. I was skeptical, but she was correct. No noise at all. Could be because we were up high on the Verandah deck, could be because of the carpet. Best thing - - extremely convenient to the dining room and showroom, one deck away.

We have been three cabins from the elevators. It's very convenient, and surprisingly, not very noisy. The children's area can be!

Was in a suite right next to the elevators on the Island in Dec, never heard a thing and really convenient. Jake

Thanks for all the replys! I had heard tales of inebriated guests as well as uncontrolled kids loitering around the elevators and just making a great deal of noise. So it sounds like it really isn't an issue. Thanks!

Whoa.......this depends on your tolerance of noise!!! You WILL hear people talking there, and they could be loud and drunk!!

We have been on 18 cruises!!! RCCL, Holland America, Celebrity, Princess---all different types of people and itineraries ranging from Carib, Bermuda, Europe, Tahiti, Hawaii, Panama Canal, Greek Islands, Norway ---all over!! Sometimes old people can be the loudest!!

Cruise ships are noisy, and you will hear them clearly just as they are walking by your cabin. Maybe 5 cabins away will be enough to muffle the sound! But, I sure wouldn't get any closer!
