Spend a few days in Barcelona. It is a city you do not want to miss. We recommend the Claris Hotel. Very nice!

Check out which hotels the cruise line uses for pre-cruise and post-cruise hotels. You don't have to book through the cruise line, but it will give you some fairly reliable recommendations on quality hotels in the area.

We stayed at the www.avenidapalace.com. Its not far from the pier, centrally located in the vibrant Ramblas and includes daily buffet breakfast. Around 3 days is good for Barcelona. Have fun. Larry :-)

We spent three days pre-cruise in Barcelona, and it wasn't enough. We stayed at the Hotel Lleo, which we liked very much--good location, large rooms, modern bathrooms, helpful front desk staff, moderate price.

We cruised from Barcelona and on recommendation of several people we booked the Hotel Continental on the Ramblas (we were also recommended a great guide).. The hotel includes continental breakfast, refreshments all day long and free drinks except for beer and wine.. not to mention free internet access.. The hotel is decorated lke your elderly grend aunt would do, but it's clean and we found half of the guests were cruisers....We were in an outside room with a balcony nd a bistro set for watching the people on the Ramblas at night... If you would like more info please write [email protected]

RCCL put us up at The Regina - it was terrible and very overpriced ! Don't stay there ! The staff was down right rude and the roaches didn't help the situation.

We spent 1 1/2 days in Barcelona. Which included 1 very long sightseeing day on a Sunday with most shopping closed. It was enough to see the things we wanted and have some nice meals, but not enough to really experience Barcelona. Two days minimum, but more if you can swing it. I would suggest the hop on/off bus your first day to get acclimated and to do something productive after a long flight.
We stayed at Hotel 1898 and LOVED it. It is about a year old and fabulous. It is historic and chic, located on Las Ramblas right across from Le Meridien. The spa pool in the basement is amazing with all sorts of "stations". Great roof top pool too! |
