hotel in Ft . Lauderdale
We need a nice hotel ( not too pricey) for Nov. 21. We're sailing the Jewel of the Seas the next day. Any suggestions?

Amerisuites is a popular inexpensive hotel in FLL - you can often get good rates through: http://valuetrips.com/
Many people use Priceline and end up with Embassy Suites, Marriott, Hyatt and Renaissance (all near port) - you can find out more info here: http://biddingfun.com/ It seems a little scary at first but once you get the hang of it, you can save a lot of money with Priceline. |
I agree with Theresa on the Amerisuites (Convention Center). I'm staying there in December for a pre-cruise night ($93.00/night), they have a free shuttle from the airport to hotel and hotel to pier. If you are driving, they also allow you to park your car there for the week you are gone if you stay the night before. I've used the hotel on previous cruises as well.

I got Renaissance for $105 per day next February on Priceline. It's definitely worth doing Priceline for Ft Lauderdale, especially for cold weather months coming up.
Someone on US forum said that the only resort is the Marriott B.Harbor right now for Ft Lauderdate on Priceline. So you would probably get that if you bid in the resort category and put in an acceptable bid. I did try calling direct and could get nowhere near those prices for Feb. doing it direct. |
I just bid for a Dec cruise and got Renaissance for $76 and Marriott for $80. Both hotels were going for around $200/night.
Dec prices are a little cheaper then February prices. |
We enjoyed our stay at the Marriott Marina Hotel right on the water where you can enjoy a water taxi if you have time to kill after arriving. I think we paid $75.00,but we had a discount. It is only about 5 minutes by taxi-probably could walk, but with luggage too much. They also have a good restaurant in the Marriott. Very helpful in this hotel.

Thanks everybody~! I've never used priceline but my son has. I like the idea of free shuttle from the airport and to the pier from Amerisuites. I'll also try valuetrips.com.

We've used the advice given on this forum and booked with the Amerisuites. I checked out all the rates they offered and if you prepay with no option to change your reservation, they offer a considerable discount.

The Amerisuites is a clean hotel in a very good location - near shops for last minute items, plenty of restaurants, within walking distance of water taxi, nice size pool, free parking, etc. .
The breakfast is somewhat limited compared to Embassy Suites but considering you will be on a ship in a few hours of breakfast, it isn't that big of deal. |
We just got back from cruise. Go to priceline.com and ask for a downtown hotel, three stars. You will get the Hyatt, Marriott or Embassy. We got the Embassy Suites for 67 dollars! They had a free shuttle as well from the airport and to the dock. Free breakfast and free cocktails in the afternoon as well. I wouldn't pay any hotel's price without trying priceline first!!

Just got the Marriott Marina in Fort Lauderdale 2/24-2/27 for $75/night on Priceline-first try, first time on Priceline.
|
Priceline isn't offering the Embassy for Jan., at least not at this time. I would LOVE to stay there - think I'll wait a litle longer.
|
I also noticed that Embassy Suites have not come up for quite a while on biddingfortravel as a reported Priceline win (since July I believe). I recentlly bid and got the Marriott for one night and Renaissance for another night.
I really like the Embassy Suites but I am sure I will like the other 2 hotels. |
