Shorter Cross-Atlantic Cruises

In my intensive research, I've found cross-Atlantic cruises for 6-plus days. Are there any that are shorter, perhaps even direct -- i.e. no stops or minimum stops? We are looking for a long-flight substitute. Thank you for any/all information.

AFAIK the shortest transatlantic crossings from the US take 7 nights. Can't see how one could possibly be faster considering the distance involved

The shortest should be the regular Cunard sailings between New York and Southampton, since there are no stops. That's seven nights in either direction, If you want faster you fly.

The QE2 did it in 5 days.... and the QM2 is capable of that also. But I've read that passengers these days prefer a more leisurely trip.. and I gather that is more profitable for Cunard.

PS TDudette,.... saw your beautiful photos on the Just Retired thread.... gorgeous!

dsquared and cruiseluv: But any stop would make the crossing even longer . . . The OP is trying to find a shorter journey.

Cunard is the quickest at 7 days. They used to do the crossing in five days, but changed it some years ago to 7 days (slower means less fuel burned; more days on board = more revenue).

Yes, I got that. I was responding to a poster that expressed disbelief there's anywhere they could stop

It's the same distance across the Atlantic as it was in April 1912 when the Titanic wanted to set a new speed record. If you want to avoid a long flight, fly to Iceland and spend a day there and then take another flight to the destination of your choice. 3 days (maybe less) and you get the chance to see some of a nice country in between.
I believe there is still a flight from Boston to Terciera in the Azores. It is about 900 miles to fly from Lajes to Lisbon.

There are no stops on QM2 transatlantic crossings. It could be done in 5 days, (according to my marine engineer son,) but they make it a week for a variety of reasons
