High School Seniors
 

Just a word of warning to parents of high school seniors, Royal Carribbean separates teens so that those 17 & younger can't join those 18 or older at night. My daughter & 4 fellow HS seniors are currently on the Liberty of the Seas, 2 turned 18 this month & the other 3 are 17, the 18 year olds can't go in the 'under 17' events & the 17 year olds can't go in the 18 & older venues. We've raised this to the proper customer service folks & they're not interested in assisting, even though there are many HS seniors wandering the halls at night because they can't be togehter. So be forewarned, Royal Carribbean is no longer the great place to take your HS seniors for a fun filled & enjoyable senior trip!

Do they allow HS seniors , regardless of age, travel solo????

We just returned from a RCCL cruise and heard lots of complaints about the younger crowd/Spring breakers. Whether RCCL is catering strongly to the HS/college crowd, I am not sure, but I have cruised in the Spring with them before and have never seen so many Spring breakers, not even at the Carnival cruises!

Look at it the other way, from regular non-group passengers. I am happy that my dtr has been able to go to teen club activities without my having to worry about predatory older teen and young adults being allowed in (just have to worry about trouble she can get into alone or with predatory 13-17 year olds)

Maybe they should segregate HSers from other teens, to answer gail's concern. I'm more concerned about an 18 year old HS student having access to a bar & all that that environment attracts than that same 18 year old joining in with the 13 - 17 year old crowd. RCCL needs to address the issue since the current policy doesn't...

Young people 18-20 are really in an underserved age group on cruises. We have cruised with our kids twice, both times our son was in that age range. They are too old, both in age and interests, for most teen programs. And they are too young to drink or gamble, and not interested in many of the adult cruise activities. Our son is rather shy, so did not have an easy time meeting others in that age group. He did have a good time - reading, sitting by pool, catching up on sleep - but there really are not good options at that age.
