Help with Cruise Brooklyn Cruise Terminal

Planning on a Princess Cruise out of Brooklyn cruise Terminal. Which airport is closer to the cruise terminal? We also need a hotel in which to stay and a mode of transportation of getting from airport and to terminal the day of the cruise
Thanks for your advice,

You want to fly into either LGA or JFK airport. I think LGA is marginally closer than JFK to the cruise terminal, but most hotels where you might want to stay are in either Manhattan or Queens. There are a few hotels in Brooklyn, though nothing remotely close to the cruise terminal itself. The only thing I'd recommend is to avoid flying into EWR if possible; it's a long, difficult, and expensive slog there from Brooklyn.

You'll have to take a taxi or car service to get to the cruise terminal, and it will cost between $20 and $40 depending on where you're coming from. It will also cost you around $30 to $60 dollars to get to any hotel in NYC depending on where you end up flying and staying.

How much are you wanting to pay for a hotel? Do you want to stay in Manhattan, or do you want to stay in Queens to save money?

My suggestion is to fly into LaGuardia and stay in Manhattan. It's a quick trip into town and you will have a much better time overnighting in NYC than in Queens. The Brooklyn terminal is in the middle of nowhere and the last time we used it with Princess we were not able to board until 2pm. So unless you are Gold plus, there could be a lot of sitting around with nothing to do. Better to be in the City. Cab shouldn't take more than 40 minutes to the Terminal. Use Priceline for a good hotel rate.

At JFK, we have stayed at the Hampton Inn. Okay property in the middle of nowhere with nothing to do. Would not recommend it unless you have a very early flight out.

We are flying into JFK and staying at the Sleep Inn in Brooklyn which is not too far from the cruise terminal. There is a subway stop a few yards from the hotel, so we can go into Manhatten if we choose .

Looking at the web site for the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal, looks like there isn't much difference in distances for the three local airports. Suggest you choose based on the best flight times/deals:

triathlete, you are so wrong, and you really shouldn't give advice about NYC if you aren't aware of the issues here.

It's true that it doesn't matter much whether you land at JFK or LGA, but there's a HUGE difference in choosing EWR over either LGA or JFK. It's not distance but travel time and the logistics of getting from New Jersey to Brooklyn, and the hurdles are enormous. This is not a time to chime in when you aren't informed.

It's certainly possible to get to the Brooklyn cruise terminal from EWR, but it's considerably more difficult, time-consuming, and expensive than from either of the other two airports in NYC.

Sorry, triathlete ... while I still disagree I was far too harsh. Probably low blood sugar before lunch.
