help nee insiders info on carnival!
Hi there, we are sailing on Paradis with my in-laws who are in their mid 80's. Does anyone know of a way for them to get on board without having to wait in the long line. Last year they stood in line for over 90 minutes. The only way Carnival will let them out of the line is if they go by wheel chair which they refuse to do! Help any insider info?!?!? Thank you

Hmmm.
There is preferred boarding for passengers in categories 11 & 12 (suites), but I assume you're not going that route. How about this? Wrap your ankle in an ace bandage and get the wheelchair for yourself--they can push you on board! Or, better yet, call Carnival and explain the situation. Tell them you're worried about their health standing there and want a preferred board without a wheelchair. If you get a "no" ask to speak to a supervisor until you get a "yes." If you get a sympathetic ear I would think they would arrange it for you--after all, it reduces their liability and it don't cost nothin! |
How about getting to the ship very early so you'll be at the front of the line. The line will move quickly and you'll get on board early, allowing them plenty of time to get to their cabin and get settled in.

That's rediculous! No cruiseline should make any passenger wait in line for 90 minutes regardless of age or health! It's hard to imagine that a cruiseline would put anyone through that!

Can't you stand in line as a place holder while they sit somewhere close by?? Don't know which port you are leaving from...but they usually have some chairs fairly close. Then you can call on your cell when you are "getting close" and have them come up?? I agree though Carnival ought to be sympathetic. I traveled with my 72 year old frient to Hawaii...and she HATED people trying to force her into a wheel chair...have a great time!

I agree with Rover, if Carnival is being so unhelpful. Either arrive very early or arrive closer to sail time when the crowds have really thinned out. Good luck -- let us know how it turned out!
