Gym facilities on NCL

I just read on NCL's new Pearl the gym is an additional $15.00 per day per person. I have sailed RCL and Celebrity and I have never heard of charging for the gym!! Is this true??

Post this on cruisecritic for a very quick response.

Freestyle is all about choice supposedly so apparently using the gym is now a choice as well.

It is my understanding the charge is for the spa area. The gym is still free.

The gym is free. There is a charge for the spa.

To clarify, the charge is for the thermal suite area, where there is a series of hot tubs and hydrotherapy pools. These are booked through the spa. You don't ever pay to use the gym on a ship (unless you want to take an aerobics class or get personal training).

OH yes I just returned today and you are all correct. It was not the gym but the spa. I must have mis-understood. The gym is wonderful all state of the art equipment. The spa was o.k. not something I would pay a $15.00 charge for. I do like the solarium and indoor pools that RCCL ships have and this doesn't have that nor is the ship large enough for that idea. They also have a free style embarkation now where you just take care of your luggage yourself, and leave when you want. I like that also.
