gambling/drinking age

Sorry if this has been asked before. We are doing a Southern Carib cruise on Princess. Morals aside, what are the drinking and gambling ages on board?

I have a 20 year old and 18 year old.

According to Princess website, 21 is age for both alcohol and casino. I checked because we are doing a Princess cruise this summer with our now 17 and 21 year olds.

We have been on several cruises with our teens. Upon boarding, they get a different type of credit/key card or some sort of ID on it to indicate that they are under 21. Cruiseline gets this info from their passports.

The 2 cruises we have taken with our older teens (one on Celebrity last Feb with 17 year old dtr and one on NCL with 19 and 15 year olds) the older teens had a little difficulty finding things to do on board. Too old for teen programs, too young for adult activities (even if age permitted their entrance, they felt out of place).

Both times they still had a good time - our dtr (younger one) is very outgoing and met up with other older teens. Our son is much more reserved but was content to read relax, people watch while on board.

While I have heard stories about underage teens being served alcohol on board, this was not my observation. I have also seen parents buying alcohol, such as wine with dinner, for their older teens and no one has had a problem with this.

Gail - thanks. We have cruised before as well and I know they get different keys or bracelets for the under 21 kids. I wasn't sure about the casino.

This is a tough age group - too old for the teen center and too young for the adult crowd. My kids are also outgoing so I am sure they will not have any problems.

Thanks once again.

For Princess, it is 21 for both. It should be in your customer care package. When in doubt, ask your TA or call the cruise line direct.

Below is a link for age requirement for all the major cruise lines from crusie-inc. I am not advertising for them but they do have the information from all the cruise lines all on one place.
