Galaxy - Friday departures?

Booked a cruise on Celebrity's Galaxy in mid-October out of San Juan. Cruise leaves on Friday evening. We're trying to figure out the impact of a Friday vs. weekend departure on the passenger mix. Just wondering if leaving on a Friday in October will draw an older group of passengers since a Friday departure might be more of a problem for working people and kids will be back in school. Any thoughts? (We're a couple in our mid-30s and not trying to be insulting - we wouldn't mind any type of crowd really - just concerned that the disco and casinos might be dead by 11 pm....:))

We're booked on the Galaxy in mid October also. We are both 30 years old and taking off work on Friday for the cruise. I'd be interested in a response to your question also!

I don't know the answer, but thought, maybe your travel agent can give you this kind of information. Maybe they can give you some stats.

Did ask the TA and he said that we might have a bit of an older group since retirees' schedules are more flexible...but I don't believe he had any stats or anything. I know Celebrity had another of its ships (I think Horizon if I remember correctly) leave on Fridays and thought maybe someone who'd been on one could report on what predominate age range they found on their cruise.
First, Celebrity is not generally known as a family cruise line. The price dictates this.

Second, San Juan sailings will cost more due to the air prices flying in and out of San Juan. This again results in less families on board.

Third, most schools are in session in October with one exception, Columbus Day. But do not let this deter you, just re-read the first two paragraphs.

The day of the week has no bearing.

Just enjoy yourself on the Celebrity Country Club.

Paul
I'm booked on the Galaxy in March. I'm late 30's and enjoy a good night life. The friday departure looked good to me. Hope you're wrong in your thoughts about an older group (unless of course you think late 30's is old!).
There are no discos on Celebrity ships but there are active lounges.

The larger the ship the more lounges.

The Casino is always very active.

Paul

We are taking our honeymoon on the Galaxy this mid-October and I am 26 and my fiance is 30 so we will be ready to party with you.

Our travelling companions, my wife, and I are also in our mid-30's. See a trend in all these meassages? We're all in our 30's and sailing the Galaxy with a Friday departure. (We leave in Feb.) Frankly, I welcome a Friday departure as the airport in San Juan will probably be less chaotic than a Saturday. As for the after hours entertainment, I'm sure that there will be more than enough of our age group around to keep things moving into the later hours. Heck, those in their 40's & 50's+ could show us a thing or two about having a good time. At least that was my experience on a prior Holland America sailing.

Three of us, including my 14 year old son are booked on the Galaxy Feb 15th. It is during school vacation and Friday is a day off from school. We got a great cruise rate that off sets the air fare.
I am hoping however that there are some young teens on this ship.

No discos on Celebrity ships? Must have removed the one I was in on the Galaxy two years ago, then. Also, there were plenty of families (including mine) on a San Juan sailing, and the kids were fully wrapped up in ship's organized activities. Celebrity was good for this as ship had connecting rooms, something we wish Princess would do more of. However, this was a Sat. sailing, so I can't address the specific issue.
