Formal nights on Celebrity Equinox

Are formal nights as formal as they used to be? Women in long gowns and men in tuxedos or dark suits? Last cruise I've been to (Princess), passengers were much less well dressed.

While I haven't been on Equinox - I've been on a bunch of ships, a couple of them Celebrity... You'll see the whole gamut - long gowns and tuxes, dresses and suits, and nice slacks and khaki's and polos. Wear what is comfortable - but I know I like the opportunity to dress up a bit.... My husband doesn't do the tux anymore, but he'll do either a suit or slacks and jacket..... It's all good - enjoy your cruise!

One more thing - the main driver as to what clothes we take on a cruise are now dictated by luggage allowances in the airlines, not specifically strong thoughts on whether we will or will not wear a fancy dress........

Formal nights aren't so strict anymore.
Will you need a long gown? Nope.
Will he need a tux or a dark suit? Nope.
I did see a man come into the MDR on the Connie last Oct. w/o a jacket or a tie and the waiters put a jacket on the back of his chair. Really a sports coat and slacks, even w/o a tie should be enough.

Although dress in general is getting less formal, I see more people dress up on Celebrity and Holland America than on other lines. That's not to say you aren't still going to see someone dressed in Daisy Dukes on a formal night (I sat next to such a person on my last HAL cruise), but a lot of people dressed. I'm sure it varies by the cruise, but you shouldn't feel out of place. I was in a tuxedo on both of my last cruises (except for NCL) and I did not feel out of place on the formal nights. But I like to dress up. On the other nights I don't wear a jacket at all.

Women seem to love to get dressed and you will see on at least a longer Celebrity women dressed in gowns and party dresses. Men are wearing blazers and dark suits,,,and yes it is the additional weight of taking a tuxedo

Thank you all. I like to dress up for formal nights and enjoy seeing passengers with their fancy clothes.
