formal nights

How dressed up does one need to be on formal nights? Are dressy pantsuits acceptable for the women?

Dressy pant suit-Yes. Why not? I usually wear what I would wear to a wedding (along the lines of a black cocktail dress). Some people go all out and wear a ballgown or some wear sundress with heels. I walk the middle line, not too dressed up, not too dressed down. It's a personal choice, but I certainly think a pantsuit is acceptable.

I'm getting ready to cruise on the Caribbean Princess this coming Saturday (can't wait) and am busy packing. I would say that your dressy pantsuits would be quite acceptable. You will see all manner of dress on formal nights. Some people do not wish to dress for the occasion. Oh well... but really I think you will be just fine.

I will probably take a pair of black palazzo pants or long black chiffon skirt and a couple of tops with sheer overblouse or maybe sequins.

Enjoy!

Sylvi-I just read another post where you specified that you are going to Alaska. I am certain that there will be many women wearing dressy pantsuits!

Just returned from a Holland cruise to Alaska and on formal nights - you will see all types of dress - from very to formal to Sunday best. Tuxes (a few) gowns (a few) and all in between - some men wore sportcoats and some suits. You will be just fine in a dressy pantsuit.
