We sailed the Constellation Jan. 04 we were a group of 6 (3 couples.) All the men wore dark suits and ties. I saw very few people with tux's on. As one poster says no one really pays much attention to what others are wearing. Be sure and relax in there pool indoors with rollers and water massages. It is very relaxing and addicting.

Many people think that "whatever I want to do must be correct." Don't most ships publish guidelines for dress on formal nights? If the cruise line suggests Tuxes and dark suits then that's what should be worn in the dining room. Why is this so hard to understand?
Can you 'get away' with a sports coat and tie? Probably. Anything less should be banned from the dining room on formal night.

On Celebrity, the sports coat for men is the suggested attire for informal nights (tie though is optional)!

Definitely agree that it is smart for Tabcourt to do the homework now.. we have cruised with only two cruise lines.. first Orient where dress-up was acceptable sportcoats, TIES, etc. dressy slacks, skirts, dresses for the women. On Seabourn - formal night is just that (and we love it)- I would estimate about 99% of the men wore tuxes and the women all wore very smart - usually long - outfits.. It is a real pleasure to dress up because I think it adds to the pleasure of the experience. (I can "casual" all the time at home!) I understand from friends that Holland America rents tuxes on board. (our friend said it is better than buying your own because then it doesn't shrink!) Your cruise line should be able to answer all your questions..
