Forbidden subjects, name them.

Subjects that never fail to get interesting comments are how to deal with passengers, fellow travelers who: smoke, are too fat, whine, etc. Still, fodors takes them off as soon as possible, oh yes, and war,. the possibility that it may change the travel scene. I think that is a hot topic and should concern the travel industry if it doesn't. I know some in our family who were stranded for over a week during 9/11. Also, there is quite a bit of hostility toward Americans in parts of the world. Why can't we talk about it???

Because Fodor's will not initiate a log in system. Therefore people can hide behind phony names and throw mud without fear of reprisal. Hence no intelligent debates. Only child like squabbles.

Actually, Fodors has only JUST STARTED a registration, well pre-registration at the moment. It will be in full force and effect soon!

Interesting, this has been pushed for for several months and now they are finally getting to it (registration). I have not heard or seen anything to show this. Where did you you find this out?

xman Jan 23rd, 2003 04:41 AM

Doh, Maybe I should read ahead before jumping to conclusions.

I can't wait for a registration system. It seems like people on here are just getting nastier and nastier. I've been a frequent visitor to the disboards, and although I have to admit that some of the forums and their fascination with Disney is a little odd, the Debate Board is very thought provoking, very little mud slinging or name calling, and very well moderated.

Another topic that seems to get people riled up here are families traveling with children. Or anything to do with children as a matter of fact. Try starting a thread about children and the experts will come crawling out of the woodwork.

While there are some extremists who post very offensive things, I agree Fodors has become very heavy handed about what it censors.
This post will probably be deleted soon because it refers to travel and terrorism, taboo subjects. Which is a bit odd, since terrorists have repeatedly targeted the airlines and tourists. But Fodors apparently lives in some fairy land in which terrorism doesn't exist.

Xman, do you see where it says Forum-Cruises on the left side? Right below is registration, above the weekly poll. Some rude person in USA forum explained it to me earlier.
