First time Cruisers/Meditteranean
 

We are in our early 60s thinking about taking a cruise in the Meditteranean in Sept. We have traveled quite a bit but this would be our first cruise. Need advice
which cruise lines are most formal. Hubby wants to travel on Cunard lines - feels safer. Any and all suggestions regarading Cruises and booking land tours will be very much appreciataed.

Cunard is formal. Royal Caribbean has formal nights, ususally two for a seven day cruise. Depending on what you plan to do and how much you want to do, will determine what type or ship you want to book

Holland American has some very nice cruises in the Med. And it appeals to your (and mine) age range. Not sure what you means by Cunard is safer. I think they are all safe.

I heartily endorse Oceania. In 9/06 we did their Istanbul to Venice trip and loved it. You're right in the age group of the majority of the cruisers on that line. Dress is "country club casual" so not formal, but no flip flop shoes either.
Smaller ship too which was nice.

n the middle of all these cruise lines add Celebrity ..and their ports are great..remember to check to see what is interesting to y ou..We have done a trans-atlantic on the Century and will be doing the Galaxy..great service, Frankly, since I had a bad experience on R.C. I would avoid the ships.. I prefer smaller..under 2500, actually under 2000. Find an itinerary and then work around it

For formality and luxury, Crystal.

For luxury without mandatory formal attire, Regent.

For a premium cruise with formal nights and an elegant ambiance, HAL first and Celebrity next.
