Planning an Alaska cruise - am wondering is there a service to press clothes on the ship - thinking when I pack a suit for formal night - it will sure be wrinkled and will need pressing.

Yes, the ships all have laundry and pressing services. If you send it out one day you'll either get it back the same or next day (ask first).

Some ships have laundry rooms with irons & boards to do your own pressing.

Just a word of advice. If you send something out to be pressed the day you need it, it's about 3x's as much...at least it was on the RCCL cruise I was on. One item I sent out a day or two in advance and it was very reasonable. The second time I decided something needed it for that same night and WOW..what a difference!

Hi Maryann, No. We will be on the Sky 9/20. Brrrrrrr.... Oh, well, maybe not. Have never been on a HAL cruise but we are determined that we will one day. (2 Carnival, 2 RCCL, 1 NCL to date). All were fun and I can think of no better vacation as far as relaxing and getting away from it all. This is our first cruise that ISN'T to the Caribbean so it will be very different in that respect.
Anyway, have a wonderful time and hopefully the weather will cooperate!!

I pack my husband's suits in dry cleaner type plastic bags, then give them a shot of Downy Wrinkle release and hang them in the shower to steam once. They've never been wrinkled!

No matter how carefully you pack, you'll have some creases and wrinkles.

I always pack a clothing steamer. Awesome is the Franzus. Heats up while you're brushing your teeth and does a nice job in minutes. Also nice is the Rowenta if you don't need dual voltage, which you won't, going to Alaska.

If you don't wish to bother with packing appliances and doing it yourself, just have it pressed once you board.

I've packed my suits and fancy things in dry cleaner bags for trips to Australia and have NOT had to press them on arrival. It's all in the way you pack them. Leave a tiny little bit of air in the bags, put your hanger items in the bags, and THEN fold them into your suitcase. I pat them down a bit in the suitcase, releasing some of the accumulated air if they are too puffy. Works everytime!
