First Cruise with my 12 year old

I'm a single mom wanting to take my 12 y/o daughter on a cruise this June/July. 7 to 10 days is our time frame. I'm thinking Disney may be the way to go as I'm sure my daughter will be kept busy with all the activities on board. But I'm not sure how it will be for me going solo. I appreciate any suggestions or reviews.

Although I haven't sailed them, I've also heard that Royal Caribbean has a good program for children. And I think they're cheaper than Disney. If you go to www.cruisecritic.com, there is a family message board with lots of information.

Thanks, Abram. I'll see what RC has to offer

Aside from the recommendation of the various children's programs, be prepared to show some sort of authorization that you are allowed to travel with your daughter out of the country. (Most cruises will include at least one port outside of the U.S.)

I am also a single mother and have taken my daughter on 2 cruises. On each cruise I needed to show documentation at checkin that I had permission to travel with her.

While checking in for our last cruise, there was a woman at another counter next to us who was traveling with her son. She didn't have the documentation and they weren't going to let them on the ship without it. She was very upset and in a panic, trying to contact her husband to somehow get the document to her before the ship sailed.

A good travel agent may help you a great deal.
