I would like to hear from anyone who has sailed Milennium/Infinity (Celebrity). I heard that the food is not as good as it used to be on Celebrity. Did you find this to be true if you sailed with the line before? Also general review of ship.

We sailed Celebrity twice. We declared it, then, as our favorite compared to the other 20 cruises we've taken. Then we sailed twice on RCCL and declared them the the bottom of the list. Then we heard that RCCL bought Celebrity. We heard that Celebrity has been going down hill ever since. Hence, no more either one of them for us. We have no complaints against Princess, HAL, NCL, Renaissance or a few other lesser known lines.

I sailed with Celebrity (Century) last Thanksgiving--food was great--
RCL has owned Celebrity for over 2 years and they are distinctly different as far as food and service.
Food on RCL is horrible-way too salty. However, entertainment on RCL is fabulous...
That said, this will be my 3rd Celebrity cruise in 3 years ( with RCL in between) and we are going on the Millenium in Nov.--I have heard nothing but favorable reports esp.to try the Olympic dining room,as it is supposed to be terrific---When are you planning to you?

Sailed on the Millennium last October and found the ship to be very good in almost every way. The only thing that seemed lacking was the convenience of a 24-hour buffet for when you get back from an all day tour and want a convenient place to grab a quick bite since dinner could be 3-4 hours away.

The ship is beautiful and the staff was outstanding. The food was as good as we had on the Grand Princess. The best at-seas meal we had was in the specialty restaurant. Certainly worth the extra $12 per person charge. The Aqua Spa and Thalasotherary (sp?) pool were outstanding as well.

As with almost all cruises, you can find things not to like, but it was an excellent 10-day journey for us.

Please e-mail me if you have specific questions.

Ken
You are correct Ken, other than the perfect country-club experience on Celebrity they do only have room service after the 4 -5PM tea and finger-bitties. Those that have their dining scheduled late are out of luck.

You do not find this on the mass-market lines who have buffets except for the 1/2 to one hour clean-up time.

Paul
Excuse me, Paul. Room service is available 24/7 on the Millie and her sisters except the pizza which is available from 3pm to 7pm and 10pm to 1am. The room service is a little limited, granted, but it is available 24/7. I do agree that the Celebrity needs to have more alternative dining available during the supper and early evening hours.
Sorry, I neglected to mention room service. I usually do not order the stuff unless I am in a Celebrity suite where the entire dinner menu is available.

Paul

I need a bit of clarification here. We are booked on the Summit next June in Alaska and were told that there is alternative dining in the evenings if we were not running on schedule for the early seating. Is this not so?? We were also told that they offer room service from the dining menu. Paul, you mention that this is just for those in suites. We are in a balcony but not a suite. Has our travel agent given us wrong info? I thought that the brochure indicated the same thing that the agent said but I don't seem to have one now so I would appreciate the help.

David, There is alternative dining on the Millennium Class ships, which includes the Summit, but you need to make a reservation. From what I've read in brochures and on other message boards, room service menus appear to be flexible. While people in Suites confirm the full dinner menu is available, there are also examples of people in staterooms who were able to order room service from the full dinner menu. I don't think you need to worry - Celebrity has a reputation for taking care of their guests. Enjoy your cruise!
