Explorer aft cabin 8690, any comments, Yea or Nae?

Can all of you Voyager/Explorer of the Seas experts give me a hand. I booked cabin 8690 for Aug 2002, which is one of the aft cabins on the deck 8. It is a corner unit with from what Im reading has a slightly larger balcony and a slight obstruction of the view. That all sounds good to me but is there anything that Im missing that someone has experienced about these aft cabins?

Aft cabins can have more motion.

Otherwise - they are a hidden secret from most cruisers. I have had aft cabins on 2 different cruises and love the extra balcony space. Corner cabins are normally better!

I would definitely take it. Experienced cruisers go after these cabins!

Theresa, thanks for the info, these cabins must be a very big hidden secret because I have checked RCI website for the next couple of months and it appears that these cabins are the last ones to go. I guess it must be the added motion yet when I asked a RCI representative about these cabins they told me there is less motion in the aft then in the front. That may be so but maybe there is more motion in the aft then in the middle. What about noise, would there be more noise in the aft then in other locales?

We were on the Voyager aft corner and on the Explorer mid ship. Both cabins were great. The view from the back of the ship is pretty cool and you can always see the islands when leaving port. Midship is a good location for getting around but if you don't mind a little more walking, aft cabins have great views and no difference in motion. Bon Voyage!

Cruise bride, thanks for the info we are opposites, I was on the Voyager mid ship and Ill be on the Explorer Aft. I guess its not a bad location since all 4 Royal Family suites on these ships are Aft and I can't imagine they would put these premium rooms in an inferior spot.
